Spiced Poached Pears

INGREDIENTS:
4 Anjou pears, rinsed
4 cinnamon sticks
1 tbsp whole cloves
1 ½ c of dessert wine – I suggest Sangria
½ c of water
DIRECTIONS:
1. Boil liquids and spices in a medium-sized saucepan on medium-low heat, covered. This will take about 2-3 minutes.
2. Immediately add the pears to the wine mixture.
3. Continue simmering the ingredients for about 20 minutes, covered.
4. Turn off your stove, then discard the spices.
5. Serve pears in wine mixture while still warm.
